Sproing Fitness

Chicago, Illinois

Sproing developed an innovative soft-surface running machine designed for high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Offering a running experience comparable to moving across sand, the equipment provides a lower-impact alternative to conventional treadmills. The founders envisioned their first fitness studio as a prototype for a new approach to group fitness.

Design studies explored the transformation of a 3,500-square-foot space in Chicago's River North neighborhood into a contemporary fitness studio centered around Sproing's proprietary equipment. Inspired by the experience of running on soft sand and the flowing forms of sand dunes, the design introduces a dynamic architectural language that reflects the movement and energy of the workouts.

The company's existing branding and visual identity informed the architectural expression, creating a cohesive experience between the product and its environment. A small café area integrated into the reception provides an informal gathering space, encouraging interaction and connection among clients and staff.

The resulting design concept establishes a distinct identity for the proposed studio while exploring a flexible prototype for future locations.
